Charity Begins at... the Casino
If you thought the games industry was all fun and... well, games, then you're in for a shock. As a fringe-event to the Develop Conference in Brighton, Relentless and Eurogamer sponsored their third annual poker tournament on behalf of GamesAid, the UK games industry charity, set up to raise funds primarily for young people. On Tuesday 13th July, games industry professionals the world over took time out from their hectic game-playing schedules to gather at the Grosvenor Casino on Brighton seafront for some card-based fun. The glitzy event raised over £3,400 for underprivileged children in the UK.
So next time you're having a bad day at work, remember what we in the games industry have to go through on a regular basis: making games, playing games and attending poker tournaments. It’s a hard life but...

Ice Cream and Awards!
It’s July in Brighton, which means it’s time once more for the Develop Conference and Awards. Self-described as an event where the ‘European developer community comes together to learn from each other, share experiences, be inspired, make new contacts and catch up with old ones.’ Or as we like to call it: Ice Cream Time! Once again we’ll have an Ice Cream Van outside the Hilton Brighton Metropole on the 14th and 15th, from 10.30 onwards. Anyone with a Conference Pass will be able to receive a delicious frozen treat for FREE. Oh, and did we mention our very own Blue Toad Murder Files™ is up for an award in the ‘Best New Download IP’ category?
Ice Cream and Awards, what a lovely combination...

The Ambassadors Reception
As you may know by now, here at Relentless we’re all big fans of GamesAid and the superb work they do! Recently GamesAid put out a call to its members to see who would want to represent the charity as GamesAid Ambassadors –and we are very proud to announce that two of our very own staff were selected!
As well as eating copious amounts of Ferrero Rocher, Terry Lee and Giles Armstrong will be organising and taking part in fundraising events, as well as raising awareness for Games Aid. To find out more about the good work of GamesAid, click here.

Mission: Paintball
On Saturday, May 8th at 09:00 hours, the Relentless Paintball Battalion reported for duty at Demolition Paintball in Albourne, West Sussex. After our supply drop, we were briefed on two mission critical objectives; eliminate all hostile forces and don’t eat paintballs.
After hours of intense battle we emerged from the combat zone tired, bruised and ready for a debriefing in the local pub.
Mission Successful.

The Mysteries are Finally Revealed!
19 weeks after our first two episodes leapt out of the building in UK, our final three episodes launch in the US. Our lucky North American friends only had to wait four weeks between episodes and can now enjoy the full season of Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle™.
Obviously, we’re not going to give too much away but we’d be really interested to hear your theories and observations so far. Have you noticed any recurring themes? What clues about the case stand out that haven’t been resolved? Who looks like they’re hiding something? If you’d like to hop over to the forums to give us your thoughts, we’d love to hear them.

Women in Games
She may only have returned from the US a few weeks ago but already Jade Tidy, Producer on Blue Toad Murder Files™, has been back in the public eye. She recently took part in a Live Q&A session on The Guardian website’s Careers Section. Jade joined a panel of experts to debate why so few women are typically employed in games and also to give advice to women hoping to break into the industry. The debate took place on April 20th and you can read all of their discussion here. P.S. At the risk of sounding a bit smug at Relentless we’re proud to be a trailblazer and currently 21% of our employees are women as opposed to the industry standard of 11% (source: The Guardian).
