Buzz!™: The BIG Quiz
Due to the overwhelming popularity of Buzz!™: The Music Quiz we released a general knowledge quiz in March 2006.
In Buzz!™: The BIG Quiz we took the same format, but added an eight player mode, new rounds, new contestants and put them in a new set. The questions tested all corners of the brain from celebrity gossip to the works of Shakespeare. How we managed to get so much Buzz!™ made in a five month period remains a scheduling mystery. How we did it whilst avoiding late nights and crunch is a topic for another page.
Somethin' Else did a great job on the scripting and commentary. Sadly, about 50% of it ended up on the cutting room floor when Sony's legal department decided it was 'unsuitable'. There's an X-rated version of Buzz!™ in the vaults of Relentless which will never see the light of day.
Like the music quiz before it, Buzz!™: The BIG Quiz proved very popular and stayed in the PlayStation2 UK top 20 at full price for a year. As well as commercial success, we were also very proud to receive a BAFTA for best Casual and Social game in 2006. Picking up a BAFTA for Buzz!™ was the moment that we could prove to our parents that making videogames was a proper job.
