Q. How do I redeem a promo code for an Apple TV game on an iOS device?
If you have an iOS device, here are the steps you’ll need to take:

  1. Launch the App Store app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on the Featured tab.
  3. Tap on Redeem at the very bottom.
  4. Sign in with your iTunes password, if requested.
  5. Enter your promo code.
  6. When you go back to your Apple TV, the newly redeemed game should now show up under Purchased.

Q. How do I redeem a promo code for an Apple TV game using iTunes?
If you are using your Mac or Windows PC, here are the steps you’ll need to take:

  1. Launch iTunes on your Mac or Windows PC.
  2. Click on the App Store tab.
  3. Click on Redeem under Quick Links.
  4. Sign in with your iTunes password, if requested.
  5. Enter your promo code.
  6. When you go back to your Apple TV, the newly redeemed game should now show up under Purchased.

Q. Is there a hints system in the game? / I’m stuck. How do I get help?

On the screen where you match clues with questions, you’ll find a button (next to the question text at the top-left) which enables you to share leads on social media to ask for help from other players.

Also, if you use Twitter, search for the hashtag #TheTraceAppleTV and #SolveTheTrace to find other threads. Your question may already have been answered!

Q. Where can I download/buy The Trace?

Q. I think I’ve found a bug/problem. How do I report it?

If you use email on the device you’re playing on, please go to the game’s ‘Options’ screen and choose ‘Email Us’ – this will open your email client with a message already drafted to the correct address. You can then explain the issue you’ve encountered before sending the email.

If you’re emailing from a different device, please address your message to support@relentless.co.uk and include “The Trace” in the subject line.

In either case, please include as much information as you can including:

A description of the issue and what you were doing when it occurred

The device you’re playing on (please be specific, e.g. “iPad Air 2” rather than just “iPad”)
The operating system on that device (called “Version” in Settings > General > About)

Q. Will The Trace be available on other platforms like Android?

We hope to release The Trace on Android in the near future. This will include versions that work on Kindle devices.

Q. How do I save my game?

The game saves automatically as you play, so you don’t need to worry about saving anything yourself. When you resume playing, just choose the same game you were previously using (i.e. “Game 1”, “Game 2” or “Game 3”) on the ‘Select Game’ screen and you’ll continue from the last point where a save occurred.

Q. Can I play on my phone and my tablet?

Yes, you can play on both your iPhone and iPad and your saved games will automatically be synchronised between devices (note: you need to be signed in to iCloud on each device).

Q. Will the game work on my device?

The game works best on iPad 2 and above & iPhone 4S and above, running iOS 7 and above.

It will also run on iPhone 4, but we don’t recommend this due to performance issues.

Q. How long does it take to complete the game?

It depends on the player. A good benchmark is around 3 hours of gameplay, but this could be longer or shorter depending on your style of play and deductive ability!

Q. I enjoyed The Trace. Will you be making more games/releasing new cases?

We would love to do more. If we get enough interest, it’s definitely something we’ll look at – maybe new cases or even a full sequel.

We hope to update the game the game to support more languages soon. Currently it’s available in English, French, German and Spanish.
